 Sama divers, known to many as the Badjaos, listen to American national, Luke Schroeder, as he shares some words of wisdom in a Sama dialect in Thursday’s opening ceremony of the 1st Kadayawan Sama Freediving Contest at Sta. Ana Wharf before proceeding to Talikud Island for the competition proper. Schroeder talks in Sama dialect fluently because he has been married to a Badjao for years already.
